What is the Hours Calculator?
The Hours Calculator is the "Swiss Army Knife" of the Personnel Department and any worker who needs to clock in. It works as a Toolkit that does two fundamental things that a cell phone calculator cannot do easily: add/subtract times in clock format and calculate financial values for overtime.
How to use the Hours Calculator
Choose the tab according to what you need:
- Time Card: enter each time on a line (entry, exit, break) and use the minus sign before lunch time to deduct it. The tool adds everything up and shows the final balance.
- Overtime: inform your gross salary, the monthly working hours (the CLT standard is 220h) and the percentage of overtime (50%, 100% or a union agreement amount). Then enter how many overtime hours you worked in the period.
In both modes, the result appears automatically as you fill in the fields, without having to click on any calculate button.
Mode 1: Time Card (Add and Subtract)
If you work with Time Bank, you know how difficult it is to add broken minutes (ex: 08:35 + 01:42). Our tool allows you to simply paste the hours into a text field, one below the other, and we will give you the balance.
The big difference: You can use the minus sign (-) to discount your lunch break or early departures! For example:
08:30(Input)- 01:15(Lunch)04:00(Return)
The total will be calculated mathematically without errors.
Mode 2: Overtime Receipt
Most calculators on the internet ask you to fill in "What is your typical hourly rate?" The problem is that no one knows this value off the top of their head!
Therefore, our E-E-A-T mode only requests the data you have on your pay stub:
- Your Gross Salary.
- Your Monthly Working Hours (The general CLT standard for those who work 8 hours Mon-Fri and 4 hours Saturday is 220 hours per month. But there are those who work 200 hours, 180 hours or even 150 hours depending on the professional category).
From there, our calculator divides the salary by the load to find the exact value of each hour of your life.
What is the percentage of Overtime?
According to labor law (CLT), common overtime is worth 50% more than normal time (applied from Monday to Saturday). On Sundays and public holidays, overtime is worth 100% more (i.e., double the amount).
Our tool has a selector where you can choose the standard 50% and 100% CLT, but we also insert customized options (60%, 70%, 120%), as many union agreements guarantee employees rates higher than the law.
E-E-A-T: The Paid Weekly Rest (DSR)
Valuable information that many are unaware of: every extra hour you work generates a mandatory impact on your DSR (Remunerated Weekly Rest). In other words, in addition to the value calculated by our tool, your company's HR is obliged to pay an additional amount (which varies from 15 to 20% of the overtime value) to compensate for your days off during the month. Our receipt displays a reminder about this so you don't get passed over!
