What it is
The Facebook Video Downloader is a free tool that saves a public Facebook video to your device as an MP4, no software to install and no login required. Paste the video's link — from a page, a group, or a profile, as long as it's public — and the tool looks up the available quality options.
When Facebook offers both versions, the tool shows an HD button and an SD button. If only one quality is available for that video, only that option shows up.
How to use it
- Copy the video's link on Facebook — in the app, tap share and "Copy link"; in the browser, copy the address from the bar or the video's options menu.
- Paste the link into the field on this page and tap Search.
- Pick HD or SD, whichever is available, and the download starts right in the browser.
HD or SD: which to pick
When both options show up, HD is the higher-quality version and SD is a lighter file that downloads faster and takes up less space. For keeping or watching on a TV, HD is usually worth it; to save mobile data, SD does the job.
Where the file gets saved
- Android: the Downloads folder in the file manager; it usually shows up in the gallery too.
- iPhone: the Files app, Downloads folder. To get it into your camera roll, open the file and use "Save Video."
- Windows, Mac and Linux: the browser's Downloads folder.
Is it safe and legal to download Facebook videos?
The tool doesn't ask for your Facebook account login or password, and doesn't keep the link or the video after the download. The lookup happens on the spot, straight from the address you paste.
The video still belongs to whoever posted it. Downloading to watch offline or keep as reference is common personal use. Reposting it as your own, or using it in an ad or commercial content without permission, is a different matter — credit whoever published it.
Common problems and how to fix them
- "No download link available": Facebook sometimes doesn't expose a downloadable version for a specific video. Try copying the link straight from the video's own page (not from a shared post) and search again.
- "The video may be private or Facebook blocked the extraction": only works with videos from a public page, group, or profile. A closed group's video or a private profile's video isn't accessible outside Facebook.
- Link doesn't work: check that you copied the full address, including the facebook.com or fb.watch start.
