What it is
The HEIC to JPG Converter is a free online tool that turns HEIC files into JPG without installing anything and without uploading your image anywhere.
HEIC is what an iPhone saves by default since iOS 11. It packs the same photo into roughly half the space of a JPG, which is great on the phone and a problem everywhere else: plenty of Windows programs, older Android phones, print shops and web forms simply refuse to open it.
How to use it
- Add your file, by dragging it in or picking it from your device.
- Wait for the conversion, which finishes in a moment.
- Download the JPG, ready to use.
You can convert several files in the same session, one after another.
Your file never leaves your device
This is the part worth reading twice. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser, using the image engine your browser already has. Your file is not uploaded to a server, not stored, and not seen by anyone.
That matters more than it sounds. Photos carry metadata: the model of the camera, the date, and often the exact GPS coordinates where the picture was taken. Sending a personal photo to a conversion site means handing all of that to a stranger. Here there is nothing to hand over, because nothing is sent.
It also means there is no queue, no daily limit, and no account. The only ceiling is your own device: a very large file on an old phone may take a few seconds.
What to expect from the result
JPG discards a little detail to save space, so this is a one-way trip: converting back to HEIC will not bring the lost detail back. For a photo you want to keep as an archive, hold on to the original HEIC as well.
