The RUT Generator creates Chilean Rol Único Tributario numbers with the check digit computed via the modulo-11 algorithm used by SII (Servicio de Impuestos Internos).
What it is
The RUT identifies every person and company in Chile — used both as a RUN (identity document, issued by the Civil Registry) and as a tax number (SII). The check digit, after the dash, is computed by multiplying the digits of the number's body (right to left) by weights cycling from 2 to 7, summing everything, and taking the remainder of dividing by 11. That remainder can produce digit 0-9 or the letter K.
This tool generates fictitious RUTs that pass that check, with two options:
- Individual: numbers in the typical individual RUN range.
- Company: numbers in the typical range assigned by SII to legal entities.
Neither belongs to a real person or company — they exist only to test systems.
How to use it
Pick the type (individual or company) and quantity, click Generate RUT, and copy or download the result. To check an existing RUT, use the Validator tab.
How the check digit is calculated
Take the RUT's body (without the check digit) and walk it right to left, multiplying each digit by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, repeating that cycle if the number is longer. Sum everything and divide by 11: if the remainder is 0, the digit is 0; if the calculation (11 minus the remainder) gives 11, the digit is also 0; if it gives 10, the digit is the letter K; otherwise, it's the number itself.
Worked example
For body 12345678, walking right to left with weights 2,3,4,5,6,7: 8×2+7×3+6×4+5×5+4×6+3×7+2×2+1×3 = 138. Dividing by 11, the remainder is 6, and the check digit is 11−6 = 5. The full RUT is 12345678-5.
