What is the Unemployment Insurance Calculator?
Unemployment Insurance is one of the most important rights of Brazilian workers. It guarantees temporary financial assistance in the event of unfair dismissal. Our Unemployment Insurance Calculator helps you find out exactly how much your installment will be and how many installments you will receive, according to the latest government rules.
How does the calculation work?
The Unemployment Insurance amount is not exactly equal to your last salary. It is based on the average of your last 3 salaries and then fitted into salary bands defined annually by the Government (the current table from 2024).
The amount will never be lower than the national minimum wage (R$1,412 in 2024) and has a maximum monthly payment ceiling (R$2,313.74).
Number of Installments
The number of installments you receive (from 3 to 5) depends on three things: how many months you worked before being fired and whether it is your first, second or third time requesting the benefit:
- 1st Request: Needs at least 12 months worked. (12 to 23 months = 4 installments; 24+ months = 5 installments).
- 2nd Request: Needs at least 9 months. (9 to 11 = 3 installments; 12 to 23 = 4 installments; 24+ = 5 installments).
- 3rd Request onwards: Needs at least 6 months. (6 to 11 = 3 installments; 12 to 23 = 4 installments; 24+ = 5 installments).
