What is it
Online Stopwatch is a free tool that works directly in the browser of your computer or cell phone, without having to install anything and without registering. It brings together two very useful functions in the same place: a stopwatch that counts time up (from zero) and a timer that counts time down until it reaches zero and sounds an alarm.
The stopwatch is ideal for measuring the duration of an activity, such as training, a race or any other task, and has lap marking, which records partial times without stopping the main count. The timer helps when you need a set time limit, with ready presets of 5, 10 and 15 minutes to get you started quickly. When the countdown ends, an audible alarm warns you that the time is up. The tool also offers full screen mode, which makes the numbers large and easy to read even from a distance.
How to use
Using it is simple and fast. Follow the steps below:
- Choose mode: decide if you want the stopwatch (count up) or the timer (count down).
- Stopwatch: click start to start the countdown. Use the lap button to record split times and the pause button when needed. To reset, use the reset button.
- Timer: enter the desired time or tap one of the presets of 5, 10 or 15 minutes and click start. When it reaches zero, the audible alarm sounds automatically.
- Full screen: activate full screen mode to see very large numbers, useful in classes, presentations and training.
Tips
- Leave the device sound on to hear the timer alarm; in some browsers you need to interact with the page first to release the audio.
- Keep the flap open while using it, as the counting takes place there.
- The Pomodoro study and productivity technique goes well with the timer: use blocks of time with short breaks in between.
- On the stopwatch, laps are great for comparing the pace between stages of a workout or a repeated task.
Because it is light and direct, the Online Stopwatch is useful both for everyday life (cooking, studying, training) and for professional situations, such as controlling the time of a meeting or group dynamics.
